What is a team licence?
A team licence ties the right to use a program not to a person's own subscription but to the company's subscription. The company opens a business account, buys as many licences as it needs and assigns each licence to an employee. Once a licence is assigned to a person, all features of that plan are unlocked on the person's account; the company can take the licence back and give it to someone else.
In short, the subscription belongs to the company and the licence is in the person's use. Payment, invoicing and licence distribution are handled in one place; employees keep working with their own accounts and their own projects.
Personal subscription or team licence?
If you work alone, a personal subscription is enough. When two or more people draw on behalf of the same company, the differences become clear:
| Subject | Personal subscription | Team licence |
|---|---|---|
| Who pays? | Each person for themselves | The company, with one subscription |
| Invoice | Separate for each person | With the company name and tax ID |
| When someone leaves | The subscription leaves with the person | The licence becomes free and is assigned to the newcomer |
| Plan | Everyone chooses their own plan | Plus, Pro and Ultimate mixed in the same team |
| Renewal | Each subscription has its own date | All licences on the same day |
| Price | Plan price | Same price; volume discount as licences increase |
How many licences does your office need?
Count licences by the number of people who draw, not by the total number of people. Someone who only reviews the plan or leaves notes on it doesn't need a licence: viewing a shared plan and writing comments is available on every plan, including Free.
- Plus: for the person who draws floor plans, the 3D of all floors, electrical and plumbing, sections, elevations and drawing sheets.
- Pro: in addition to these, for the person who needs the AI assistant, render, DXF export to CAD, quantity take-off and editing a plan together with someone else (Editor permission).
- Ultimate: for the person who works with BIM, IFC and voltage calculation.
For example, in an office with three architects and a project manager, Pro may be enough for the architects and Plus for the project manager who turns plans into drawing sheets; clients and contractors review the plan without a licence. You don't have to buy the most expensive plan for everyone. AI assistant and render allowances are per person; they aren't shared across the team.
How do licence dates work?
Even if you buy licences on different days, each one doesn't get its own end date. All team licences renew on the same day in the same subscription.
- When adding a licence: the cost of only the remaining part of this term is charged immediately. You see the amount first, then confirm.
- When reducing licences: you choose the licences to release. This term's charge doesn't change and the amount paid isn't refunded; released licences stay active until the end of the term, and the next renewal is made with fewer licences.
- On cancellation: the subscription ends at the end of the term; licences stay active until that day. You can undo the cancellation before the term ends.
How do you set up a team?
- Open a business account: choose “Business” in the sign-up window and enter your company name and country. Tax ID and billing address are optional; if you enter them, they appear on the invoice.
- Invite your team: enter your teammates' email addresses. The invitation is valid for 14 days; the person joins with the address the invitation was sent to, using their own personal account.
- Buy licences: choose how many Plus, Pro and Ultimate licences you need; pay monthly or yearly.
- Assign licences: give one licence to each person. If you'll draw too, assign one to yourself; if you don't, your account works on the Free plan.
What should you watch out for when setting up?
- Projects stay on the person's account. The team owner doesn't see members' projects; to see a plan or edit it together, the plan's owner shares it.
- When someone leaves: when you remove a member from the team, you can transfer the projects they created after joining the team to your own account. The projects of someone who leaves of their own accord stay with them.
- Licence transfer limit: a licence can change hands at most 3 times in 30 days; the first assignment doesn't count. It's meant for team changes, not for using licences like a pool that constantly changes hands.
- One person, one team: a person can be in only one team at a time and uses one licence. A team can have at most 200 members.
